I kind of forgot about this blog thing until I was reading about blogs on a quilting site today. I remembered I actually had a blog and decided it may need some updates!
On February of this year, Jay and I got married. We went on an Alaskan cruise through the Inside Passage for our honeymoon. We bought a house in Black Hawk, SD and have been busy doing some home improvements.
In June, I got another new grandson. His name is Benjamin and he is a half brother to Allissa and Isaiah. He is 3 years old and is learning to fit into the family quite nicely.

This is my entry into the Whitework Challenge at the Black Hills Quilters Guild Show in 2006. It started out as a plain piece of white sateen fabric. I quilted it the first time with water soluble thread and used a fluffy poly batt. After trimming the batt, I quilted it again with a piece of hot pink fabric underneath, a cotton batt, and the backing. I used two different shades of pink thread. I want to try this technique again using a more transparent fabric to start with.

What an exciting year this has been! On December 16, 2005, my daughter, Janessa, and her husband Paul, took custody of Isaiah. On January 23, 2006 his sister, Allissa, was born and they got custody of her on that same day. The adoptions were finalized about six months later. Today is Isaiah's second birthday. We will have a celebration in the community room at my apartment complex. This is Isaiah's first birthday since he joined our family. He is the cutest little guy with a great personality.

Allissa is taking a few steps but not really walking quite yet. She is such a happy baby.

I'm new at this blog thing so bear with me. Today is a sunny warm day in the Black Hills so Jay and I are going to ride the motorcycle to meet my daughter and her husband for lunch. We try to ride every day that we can. One of the wonderful things about the Black Hills is our "banana belt" weather. I'm sure there aren't many places you can drive a motorcycle past people that are ice skating!
